Best Power Forward build

PF begins on the glass: REB leads the weighting, IDEF and STR establish the interior floor, and FIN plus spacing decide whether the build is more than a defensive specialist.

Position identity

Power Forward is a frontcourt role with a real perimeter escape hatch. REB, IDEF, STR, and FIN form the dependable base, while 3PT and PDEF each carry enough weight to create a modern two-way build. The position punishes guard-heavy drafts, but it also punishes the old-school build that cannot score outside one lane.

Every attribute weight

These values are read directly from the same OVR formula used after your 13th pick. Weight share shows how much of the position's normalized rating comes from that slot; a better grade still matters at every weight.

Rounds 1–13

Draft plan

  1. 01

Take A-range REB aggressively. Its 3.0 weight stands alone and anchors every PF archetype.

  2. 02

Add one interior protector from IDEF, STR, or BLK, prioritizing IDEF because its 2.5 weight is significantly larger.

  3. 03

Choose the offensive route deliberately: FIN/DNK for pressure or 3PT/PDEF for a modern two-way four.

  4. 04

Use ATH to connect the sheet and avoid spending early premium picks on HAN. Ball handling has only a 0.5 PF weight.

Three viable identities

Choose a build route

Interior Enforcer

REB · IDEF · STR

Add FIN, BLK and ATH before chasing spacing.

Tradeoff: Stable floor, but a poor 3PT grade narrows the offensive ceiling.

Stretch Four

REB · 3PT · IDEF

Use PDEF and ATH for switchability, with FIN as the inside counter.

Tradeoff: Harder to draft because elite shooting and elite big-man grades may arrive on different spins.

Rim Runner

REB · FIN · ATH

Add STR, DNK and one defensive anchor.

Tradeoff: Explosive profile that can still suffer if IDEF remains average.

Spend rerolls with intent

Reroll rules

  • Reroll an early roster with no A-range REB or IDEF when both are open; those two slots account for the strongest PF foundation.
  • Keep elite 3PT once REB is safe. Stretch value is harder to replace than another acceptable interior grade.
  • Never burn a late reroll on HAN while FIN, STR, ATH, PDEF, or BLK remains weak. Each has materially more PF weight.

Information changes the plan

Mode strategy

Classic
Use visible grades to build REB/IDEF first, then decide whether the roster quality favors stretch or rim pressure.
Blind
Known rebounders, interior defenders, and strong finishers are safer than guessing which wing has an adequate big-man grade.
Chaos
REB, ATH, PDEF, 3PT and FIN transfer well across SF, PF and C, reducing the hidden-position risk.

What drags the OVR down

Common PF mistakes

MistakeWhy it costsCorrection
Drafting a giant guardHAN carries 0.5 weight and PAS only 1.0, so creation cannot replace the frontcourt base.Solve REB and IDEF before adding a playmaking luxury.
Ignoring perimeter value3PT and PDEF both carry 1.5 weight—equal to ATH, DNK, or BLK.Add at least one spacing or switch-defense answer.
Taking BLK before IDEFBLK is useful, but IDEF has a full extra point of PF weight.Choose the better grade when close; otherwise prioritize IDEF first.

Power Forward FAQ

What is the best PF attribute?

REB has the highest PF weight at 3.0. IDEF follows at 2.5, making those the safest first two priorities.

Can a stretch PF score well?

Yes. 3PT has a meaningful 1.5 weight, but it must sit on top of REB and interior competence rather than replace them.

Is BLK more important than STR?

No in this engine. STR carries 2.0 PF weight while BLK carries 1.5, though an A+ block grade can still beat a weak strength option.
