Paint Anchor
REB · IDEF · BLK
Add STR, FIN and DNK for the safest Center floor.
Tradeoff: High consistency, limited spacing and creation.
Real engine data · C
Center has the clearest foundation in the game: REB and IDEF share top billing, BLK and STR protect that identity, and DNK plus FIN prevent an elite defender from becoming an offensive zero.
Position identity
Center is the most concentrated position. Four attributes—REB, IDEF, BLK, and STR—carry the bulk of the defensive value, so the early draft has a clear order. The strategic choice comes after that floor is secure: dominate the rim, add passing, or stretch the court without sacrificing the paint.

No guessed rankings
These values are read directly from the same OVR formula used after your 13th pick. Weight share shows how much of the position's normalized rating comes from that slot; a better grade still matters at every weight.
| Rank | Attribute | Meaning | Weight | Share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | IDEF | Interior Defense | 3.0 | 14.6% |
| 2 | REB | Rebounding | 3.0 | 14.6% |
| 3 | BLK | Blocks | 2.5 | 12.1% |
| 4 | STR | Strength / Physicality | 2.5 | 12.1% |
| 5 | DNK | Dunking | 2.0 | 9.7% |
| 6 | FIN | Finishing | 1.5 | 7.3% |
| 7 | 3PT | Three-Point Shooting | 1.0 | 4.9% |
| 8 | ATH | Athleticism | 1.0 | 4.9% |
| 9 | CLU | Clutch / IQ | 1.0 | 4.9% |
| 10 | MID | Midrange | 1.0 | 4.9% |
| 11 | PAS | Passing / Vision | 1.0 | 4.9% |
| 12 | PDEF | Perimeter Defense | 0.8 | 3.9% |
| 13 | HAN | Ball Handle | 0.3 | 1.5% |
Rounds 1–13
Treat A-range REB and IDEF as co-priorities. Both carry 3.0 weight and neither can be fully compensated by blocks alone.
Use BLK and STR as the second layer. Their 2.5 weights make them more important than any Center scoring attribute.
Choose DNK or FIN as the main scoring lane, then add the other when the grade is efficient. Do not chase MID and 3PT before the rim game exists.
PAS is the best creative luxury because it has a 1.0 weight and creates a distinct hub archetype; HAN carries only 0.3.
Three viable identities
REB · IDEF · BLK
Add STR, FIN and DNK for the safest Center floor.
Tradeoff: High consistency, limited spacing and creation.
STR · DNK · FIN
Secure REB and IDEF immediately around the scoring core.
Tradeoff: Spectacular offense cannot cover a weak defensive foundation.
REB · IDEF · PAS
Add one jumper and maintain BLK/STR at solid grades.
Tradeoff: Most difficult Center route because premium slots are spread widely.

What drags the OVR down
| Mistake | Why it costs | Correction |
|---|---|---|
| Using BLK as a substitute for IDEF | Both matter, but IDEF has the larger 3.0 weight and represents the broader defensive floor. | Draft both; when forced to choose equal grades, take IDEF first. |
| Building a stretch five too early | 3PT has only a 1.0 Center weight, far below REB, IDEF, BLK, and STR. | Secure the interior base before accepting a premium shooting donor. |
| Ignoring finishing | A defensive-only Center leaves 3.5 combined weight in DNK and FIN underpowered. | Take at least one A-range rim scoring grade and keep the other respectable. |

This target is a paint anchor first, with elite rebounding, interior defense, blocks, strength, and dunking plus enough passing and finishing to stay useful offensively.

This is a planning benchmark, not a guaranteed draft or season result. Every run still depends on team spins and available donors.
They are tied at 3.0 weight. Take whichever offers the stronger grade, then make the other the next priority.
It can work as a secondary identity. In this engine 3PT has 1.0 weight, so it cannot replace the four-stat interior foundation.
PAS is a useful 1.0-weight luxury and supports a playmaking hub. It matters far more than HAN, which has only 0.3 Center weight.
